Google announced a bunch of new features for classroom management, accessibility, and AI-powered features for creating questions and lesson plans as part of the Bett ed-tech event in the UK.

AI-powered features
Google already allows teachers to add questions to a YouTube video as part of its Classroom assignment. The company said that soon, AI will help with suggestions for questions at different timestamps. Google’s generative AI tool for Google Workspace, Duet AI, can assist teachers in coming up with a lesson plan.
AI-Powered Multilingual Practice Sets
The company added that the Practice sets feature, which uses AI to create answers and general hints, is now available in over 50 languages. Plus, educators can turn a Google Form into a practice set.
Additionally, Google is introducing a new Resources tab to manage practice sets and interactive questions asked during a video.
Additionally, the company mentioned that its generative AI tool for Google Workspace, Duet AI, can assist teachers in coming up with a lesson plan.
Innovative and Enhanced Classroom Management with Resources Tab
A novel addition to Google’s educational arsenal is the Resources tab, facilitating the efficient management of practice sets and interactive questions posed during video sessions. This feature streamlines the organization of educational content, ensuring seamless navigation for both educators and students.
Connectivity enhancements:
- Google Classroom assignments to appear on Chromebook home screens
- No cost Learning Tools Interoperability: Google Assignments LTI 1.3 currently available to Canvas users and newly available to Schoology users; also, coming later this year, both Canvas and Schoology users will be able to access Google Meet
- Education Plusand Teaching and Learning upgrade coming later this year, and teachers can export grades from Classroom to SIS gradebooks and set up classes with OneRoster SIS partners, to include Aspen, Infinite Campus, Skyward and soon PowerSchool
- App add-ons and licensing: The App Hub to be available in over 10 languages later this year, and new partner add-ons include Kami, Quizizz and Boom Learning, and other new partners will be joining this year. Accessibility Advances for Screen Readers Google is adding the ability to get text from PDFs for screen readers on ChromeOS. Plus, with the Chome browser users can highlight and read text aloud.
Google Meet Upgrades
Google Meet, a crucial component of virtual learning, is receiving significant updates. Closed captions will now be available in 30 languages, ensuring a more inclusive experience for participants. Additionally, the ability to pin multiple hosts enhances the control and organization of virtual classrooms.Our Say
